Introducing HPF’s Newest Way of Helping You “Stay Current” with Helpful Housing Finance Information

My name is Colleen Hernandez.  I am the CEO of HPF, the Homeownership Preservation Foundation — and this is our new blog.

Since you’re on our website, you’ve probably already figured out that HPF is the nonprofit organization behind 888-995-HOPE, the Homeowner’s HOPE Hotline.   To date, more than six million people have called that number to talk with our trained, professional housing counselors about their mortgage difficulties and figure out what their best next steps should be.

HPF’s housing counselors are very good at what they do, both in terms of their expertise and with respect to the compassionate, unbiased manner with which they help our callers.   That’s why countless federal government agencies, including the U.S. Treasury and HUD departments, as well as a great number of federal and state elected officials answer the question “Where should financially troubled homeowners needing reliable mortgage assistance turn?” with a resounding “call HPF!”

So why start a blog?  There’s an unbelievable amount of housing-related news, information, and opinion out there these days; it can be rather tough for homeowners to take it all in and know what’s true, what isn’t, and which ideas have merit and which recommendations may be best to avoid.  If we can leverage our insights and expertise through this blog to help you cut through the information overload and make sense of it all, my team and I will gladly do so.  It’s all part of HPF’s mandate to help homeowners navigate through their financial challenges.

Your comments are always welcome.  We look forward to hearing from you here or on our Facebook page or via Twitter.

We’ve received a few comments from people asking questions about their specific housing situations. As it would be inappropriate to answer these questions in a public forum, we encourage those with questions about their mortgage to PLEASE call HPF’s Homeowner’s HOPE Hotline at 888-995-HOPE. Counselors are available every day around the clock to answer questions and help you identify potential solutions to YOUR unique financial circumstances.
