Federal Reserve Appoints Josh Fuhrman to Consumer Advisory Council

Homeownership Preservation Foundation VP to Serve Three-year Term

February 14, 2011, Washington, DC – The Homeownership Preservation Foundation (HPF), which administers the Homeowner’s HOPE™ Hotline 1-888-995-HOPE to provide free, financial education and confidential foreclosure prevention counseling to help homeowners avoid foreclosure, find sustainable solutions, and ultimately improve their financial situation, announces that Josh Fuhrman, Senior Vice President, Policy and Programs for HPF , has been named to the Federal Reserve’s Consumer Advisory Council (CAC) by the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System (Board).

Mr. Fuhrman will serve a three-year term on the 30-member CAC, which convenes three times a year to advise the Board on issues related to consumers, communities and the financial services industry. He has been in the credit and housing counseling industry for more than 15 years, assisting consumers in financial crisis. He has an extensive background in business development and a strong community involvement in housing and financial assistance.

“Josh Fuhrman’s participation will bring first-hand knowledge of consumer and community perspectives to Consumer Advisory Council proceedings,” said Colleen Hernandez, CEO of HPF. “We are delighted to have his expertise and the issues he advocates on behalf of HPF represented to the Federal Reserve.”

As a member of the CAC, Mr. Fuhrman will serve on the Housing and Community Development Committee focusing on community stabilization and development, affordable housing, fair lending and the current foreclosures crisis. Mr. Fuhrman also will serve on the Consumer Credit Committee focusing on all consumer credit issues, consumer credit reporting and consumer debt.


Previously, Mr. Fuhrman served as the Director of Counseling for Auriton Solutions, a national nonprofit crisis-counseling agency and one of the original counseling partners for HPF.
